Meeting Teachers at TMTA!

img_3135This year CEEMS director Dr. Lynn Hodge and TPTE graduate assistants Ashley Walther and Michael Lawson traveled to Middle Tennessee State University to present at the Tennessee Mathematics Teacher Association state conference.  At the conference the team met with teachers across the state in two sessions based on their current research and grant work.

Compatible Pair: Math and Social Justice was the first session lead by the team.  In this session teachers experienced a hands-on lesson that combines mathematics and issues of social justice.   Teachers also learned and discussed ways to engage students and their communities in meaningful mathematics.

The travel for this conference was provided by the Tennessee Department of Education Improving Teacher Quality grant.
