ABOUT THE EAST TENNESSEE STEM HUB: The East Tennessee STEM Hub is part of the Tennessee STEM Innovation Network (TSIN) in the Knox/East TN Region. The East Tennessee STEM Hub is a regional partnership of educational, business, scientific, and research institutions and organizations. The East Tennessee STEM Hub connects institutions of higher education including the University of TN, Knoxville (Center for Enhancing Education in Mathematics and Science), Pellissippi State Community College, Roane State Community College, and Walters State Community College and more than twenty school districts in thirteen counties to promote and support high quality STEM education in the East Tennessee region. The goal of the East Tennessee STEM Hub is to leverage all available resources to amplify opportunities for all students. The L&N STEM Academy is the platform school for the East Tennessee STEM Hub region.
What’s the Tennessee STEM Innovation Network (TSIN)?
In 2010, the Tennessee Department of Education partnered with Battelle Memorial Institute to launch TSIN. Focusing on “kindergarten to jobs”, the Network is developing high-quality STEM programming to further ensureTennessee students are college and career ready upon graduation. The Network utilizes STEM Platform Schools and Regional STEM Innovation Hubs located across Tennessee to increase student interest and participation in STEM fields. TSIN supports the growth and quality of STEM education in Tennessee by:
- Connecting the best STEM schools, teachers, and administrators to one another and to national resources
- Assisting schools and communities that want to create new STEM schools and programs
- Driving local STEM innovations through a network approach for statewide impact
